Erasure Day
In northern Wisconsin, fog, ice, and snow erase the world until only the essential remains. These images find what is being lost: engineered objects stripped of purpose and natural forms pinned to the edge of disappearance, all suspended between what they were and what they are becoming.
Different Realms Swimming buoys suspended in fog, their water dissolved. Floating in a different state of being now.
Unresolved Two ice fishing shelters in a winter blizzard on a frozen lake. The storm has taken everything else
Disconnected An abandoned power pole in a swamp. The crossarms still reach. Nothing is attached.
Weathering A blizzard grounds a crow in a dying tree. Unable to perform its purpose. Both enduring.
Unreached A pier lost to its footings. The structure remains.
Breach A reservoir built in 1890 to hold back wildfire. The walls are losing.
Relic A pier block tipped on its side in Lake Superior. A gull neither arriving nor leaving. Both are caught between states.
